The .950 JDJ is an extremely powerful, large-caliber rifle cartridge.

History[]

The bullet is based on the 20×102mm Vulcan cartridge used in the M61 Vulcan cannon. The .950 JDJ is most notably used in the SSK .950 rifle.

Design Details[]

Loaded cases are approximately the length of an empty .50 BMG case. The projectiles are custom made, and usually weigh about 3,600 grains (230 grams), equivalent to about 8.2 ounces or over half a pound.

Performance[]

The bullet is fired at 670 meters per second (2,200 feet per second), and has a muzzle energy of 38,685 foot-pounds (52,450 J). Even when fired from a 110-pound rifle, the free recoil energy would be over 200 foot-pounds (270 J) without a muzzle brake.
