The 6×50mm SAW Long was an experimental military cartridge developed by Frankford Arsenal in the 1970s under the SAW program.

Design Details[]

The 6×50mm SAW Long is a variant of the 6×45mm SAW cartridge. The casing is made of light aluminum alloy. To prevent the casing from catching on fire (aluminum alloy is flammable), the inside of it is lined with a fire-resistant plastic. To compensate for the loss of capacity brought on by the lining, the casing length was extended from 45mm to 50mm.
