The 7.62x38mmR (also known as 7.62mm Nagant and Cartridge, Type R) is a unique ammunition cartridge designed for use in the Russian Nagant M1895 revolver.
A small number of experimental submachine guns, designed by Fedor Tokarev, were also produced in 7.62mm Nagant. Though, none were accepted into Soviet service due to their impracticality. However, this gas-sealed round would be extremely effective for sound suppressed weapons due to the case design.
