"701" is the codename given to an otherwise unnamed Chinese prototype assault rifle.
Development[]
The 701 automatic rifle was developed after the 66-136 rifle. Around the time of development the requirement for this rifle were to be chambered in the 7.62x39mm round, be less than 3.2kg, use a 20 round detatchable magazine, the rate of fire no less than the Type 63, launch rifle grenades, withstand rugged environments and made from domestic resources and mass production.
