The AK-74MB (Russian: АК-74МБ, often written without the hyphen as АК74МБ) is an experimental conventional/bullpup dual-format assault rifle based on the AK-74M made by OOO NTF "Medium", based in Irkutsk, Russia.[1][2]

The AK-74MB is a modified AK-74M assault rifle capable of switching from its conventional format into a pseudo-bullpup format when the stock is folded. The rifle features an additional trigger located at the end of its side-folding stock, an additional trigger guard located in front of the magazine well, and foldable diopter sights.

By pressing on a detent on the stock and folding the stock, the trigger on the stock is moved into the forward trigger guard, while a mechanism extends on the stock and is moved into the original trigger. Pulling the front trigger will then trigger a lever inside the stock and activate the original trigger, firing the weapon. This practically transforms the weapon into a bullpup rifle, where the trigger is in front of the magazine.[2][3]

Variants[]

A conversion kit for AK-type rifles with side folding stocks is also made, allowing for the creation of weapons such as AKSU-74MB (based on AKS-74U), AK-103MB (based on AK-103), and AK-105MB (based on AK-105).[2]
