The AKB-521 is a series of AK type assault rifles made by Kalashnikov. The weapon uses 2 lower and upper receivers.

History[]

The 500 series AK is a result of rifle sights in more common use as first generation AK rifles only used scopes in specialist roles. Sights gradually became more common with the side rail made standard on the AK100 series, this did allow sights to be used but found unergonomic. The later AK-12/AK-15 lacked the side rail and used picatinny rails on the top cover, this may be an improvement over the outdated side rail mount but many say its not exactly ideal to mount on the top cover. The AKB-500 has a permanent railed upper that is more advanced and secure sight mount than the previous models. Although the prototype uses a machined upper, production models will use a stamped upper.

Overview[]

The AKB-521 has a solid full length upper receiver, this allows to improve ergonomics of the weapon and more secure sights compared to the previous side rails on AK100 series. Handguard is free floated. The FCG components have ambidextrous controls and are also AK pattern.
