The AR-57 is an upper receiver for the AR-15 platform chambered in the 5.7x28mm, it was designed by the eponymous AR57 LLC.
History[]
The AR-57 was designed for the direct competition of the FN P90. And is intended to be used by law enforcement, for that reason, the upper is sold on both full auto and semi-auto.[1]
Design[]
The AR-57 uses the straight blowback, rather than a gas-tube system. It also has an extractor disposed of in a lower and an ejector disposed of in an upper, this was made for the upper work well with the 5.7 cartridges.[2]
The company offers the upper in 6",11", 12" and 16", however, the upper is the same in all configurations. The upper has a 3-rail in the lower handguard for adding grips or laser. [3]
AR57 LLC also offers a custom grip and a flash hider.[4]
Trivia[]
Wikipedia cites that the rifle is used by Canada, however, this could be a confusion of a Canadian forum. No real info or reliable sources have proved that Canada used this. [5]
