Colonel Abiel Bethel Revelli di Beaumont was an Italian firearms designer.
History
Born into a regal family of ancient Piedmontese heritage, he was inducted into the Regio Esercito early in his life. He was considered the most important firearms designer in Italy between the Italo-Turkish War and World War I.
After he died, one of his sons, Gino, founded the Società Autonoma Revelli Manifattura Armiguerra for the manufacture of the Armaguerra Mod. 39. Another of his sons, Mario, went on to become a famous automotive designer and racer.
Works
As stated above, Revelli was considered the most important firearms designer in Italy between the Italo-Turkish War and World War I. His most famous design was the Villar Perosa, which is regarded as the first submachine gun, even though technically it isn't one due to it being meant to be fired from a mount.
