The Bakalov assault rifle (Бакалов), officially known as the ShKB (ЩКБ, Щурмова Карабина Бакалов, Shturmova Karabina Bakalov, Bakalov assault carbine in English), is a Bulgarian assault rifle.

History[]

The Bakalov was created in the 1990s by Bulgarian firearms designer Georgi Delčev Bakalov. A patent for the weapon was registered on September 27, 1996.

Design Details[]

The Bakalov is basically a bullpup AK-patterned weapon. The weapon has 72 parts; most of which can be switched out and replaced with parts from other AKs. As the weapon is of the bullpup pattern, it is much shorter than traditional AKs where the magazine well is in front of the trigger. The Bakalov has the capability to accept both a 40mm grenade launcher and bayonets at the same time, as shown in the image.
