The Brügger & Thomet APC556 (Advanced Police Carbine) is a carbine designed and manufactured by Brügger & Thomet. It is intended to be used by police and security forces, but it is believed that a military version is planned.

Design details[]

The APC556 is gas-operated selectively-fired weapons of similar design. Both employ short-stroke gas piston located above the barrel, and multi-lug rotary bolt which locks into the barrel extension.[1] The gas system is equipped with a manual regulator to ensure reliable functioning with or without sound suppressor. The gas system of the APC-556 is designed to handle all types of 5.56 to.300 whisper ammunition (subsonic or supersonic) without any manual adjustments.

Version chambered in .300 Whisper (7.62x35mm) intended to be used in suppressed applications, offering better ballistics, accuracy and striking power compared to suppressed submachine guns or pistols.
