The Burney rifle, also referred to as the Broadway Trust rifle, was a British prototype bolt-action rifle designed by Dennistoun Burney.
History[]
The Burney was conceived in 1944. It was designed by Dennistoun Burney of the Broadway Trust company. 7mm and 20mm variants were made, but little else is known about the history of the rifle. At least two prototypes are currently located in the National Firearms Center in Leeds.
Design Details[]
The Burney had an enlarged chamber that the gases from the bullet expanded into and were then exhausted through the barrel after the bullet had left, in a similar manner to the bore evacuator of a modern tank cannon. The physical prototypes are stated to have a blocky appearance.

The Burney used the .27 Broadway Trust bullet.
