The CAR 816, also known as the Sultan, is an assault rifle designed and manufactured by Caracal International LLC. It is chambered in 5.56×45mm NATO and based on the Heckler & Koch HK416 and the SIG Sauer SIG516. The principal engineers for the CAR 816 were Robert Hirt and Chris Sirois.

Design details[]

The CAR 816 has an adjustable gas valve, which controls the gas system, there are 3 positions.

The first one is for normal use, the second use in training with civilian cartridges, and the third one is used for subsonic ammunition or with a suppressor.[1]

It has a fire selector above the grip, that has "safe", "semi" and "full". And has a civilian version only in semi-auto.[1]

Variants[]

The CAR 816 has variants that variant by barrel length in:

7.5" PDW; 10.5" CQB, 14.5" Carbine and 16" Carbine[2]

CAR 817[]

Is a 7.62x51mm NATO version of the CAR 816 and it comes with an AR and DMR version.[3]

CAR 816A2

A version designed for the US civilian market, so it is semi-automatic that has M-LOK compatibility. But rumours point of a Full auto version in the future. [4]
