The Maadi-Griffin is a series of .50 BMG American bullpup rifles made by a small company of the same name, Maadi-Griffin Co., based in Mesa, Arizona.

History[]

The Maadi-Griffin weapons were designed by American Robert (Bob) Stewart. Stewart, a devout Mormon, named his weapons Maadi-Griffin in reference to the mythical creature of the same name.[1]

Due to selling Maadi-Griffin Builder’s Kits, Stewart was convicted of selling firearms that lacked serial numbers and was arrested in 2000. His house was raided by BATF. After his arrest, Maadi-Griffin lost all ability to sell firearms, but continued to operate for a while, selling plan books and sabots.[2][3][4]

Models[]

M89/M92/M99

The Maadi-Griffin M89, M92, and M99 rifles were single-shot, bolt-action .50 BMG rifles. The standard M89 was designed for .50 BMG, but versions in other calibers could be ordered. M89 began production in 1989, M92 was a carbine version of the M89 made in 1992, with a shorter barrel and no bipods. M99 is a modified version of M89 made in 1999, with a further elongated barrel.[5][6]

The barrel is chrome plated, and the receiver body is made of aluminum. A muzzle brake is affixed to the barrel.

The large trigger guard and the bipod forms a three-point tripod, improving stability. The lower part of the handle and the bipod form a three-legged carriage, which increases the stability of the weapon when firing.

To reload the weapon, the buttstock is removed by turning the bolt and pulling it out, which carries the cartridge.

MG-6

Unlike other models, the MG-6 is a semi-automatic variation with a detachable box magazine. Much of the design is similar to the single-shot models, but the magazine is a detachable side-mounted (left-side only) unit in bullpup configuration and a gas system allows for semi-automatic fire.

Although the receiver is made in the USA, the barrel is made by Lothar Walther Mfg. from Germany.[7][8][9]

30mm rifle

An experimental 30mm caliber rifle designed by Bob Stewart in 1994. The gun uses 30×173mm autocannon ammunition, and is built in a form factor resembling an RPG.[10]

"Handgun"

A single-shot pistol that can be made with the builder kit.[11]
