The GOPAK (Ukrainian: ГОПАК, Гвинтiвка Оперативна Портативна на базi АК, Hvyntivka Operatyvna Portatyvna na bazi AK[note 1], lit. "Portable AK-patterned rifle"), also known as the GOPAK-61, GOPAK-7.62, or HOPAK, is a Ukrainian sniper rifle.
History[]
The GOPAK was developed in 2015 by Mayak and shown at a gun fair in 2015 in Russia. A second prototype was later built in 2016 and demonstrated.
Design Details[]
The GOPAK is essentially an AKM with the gas system removed and a suppressor attached. This essentially makes it a bolt-action sniper rifle similar to a VKS.

Notes[]
- ↑ The common English name of the weapon originates from the transliteration of the Russian reading of the original Ukrainian name; the Cyrillic character "Г" is transliterated with the Latin letter "H" in Ukrainian, but "G" in Russian.
