The Kentron IFA was a prototype caseless firearm. It had 10 barrels and fired electrically primed rounds. The weapon was developed by Kentron, a subsidiary of Denel SOC ltd South Africa. The Kentron IFA had a biometric sensor in the grip, which reads fingerprints and stores them in its memory (I.E.: if the weapon is stolen or lost, no one else can use it). The installed software also allows for several other functions: a shot counter knowing how many rounds the weapon has fired and when they were fired. It has a proximity sensor (just above the biometric sensor), which disables the weapon if the fingerprints are not recognized. It has a small micro camera (similar to that of mobile phones), which allows the user to take pictures with each shot. a GPS device, which locates the position of the weapon if it fires a shot.
