Louis Schmeisser was a German arms designer.

Born in 1848 in Zöllnitz in Saxe-Altenburg (today part of Thuringia), little is known about Schmeisser's early life. Schmeisser joined Rheinische Metallwaaren and Maschinenfabrik AG at some point, developing the Dreyse M1907 pistol. He then joined the Waffenfabrik Bergmann company in the 1910s with his sons; he died in March 1917 and was survived by his sons, Hugo and Hans.
