Louis Schmeisser was a German arms designer.
History[edit | edit source]
Born in 1848 in Zöllnitz in Saxe-Altenburg (today part of Thuringia), little is known about Schmeisser's early life. Schmeisser joined Rheinische Metallwaaren and Maschinenfabrik AG at some point, developing the Dreyse M1907 pistol.[1] He then joined the Waffenfabrik Bergmann company in the 1910s with his sons; he died in March 1917 and was survived by his sons, Hugo and Hans.
