The MPi-K is a East German assault rifle used by the East German Army from 1960 to 1964 where it got replaced by the improved MPi-KM. MPi-K's were sometimes seen in use by the KdA (militia under the command of the police whose primary job it was to guard factories) up until the 80s.
Design[]
The MPi-K is a copy of the AK-47. It was introduced in the 60's to replace the the aging PPSh-41 in military service, police, militia, and border guard service at the time, and eventually got issued to Grenztruppen ( in the mid to late 60s (border guards), and KdA. A few differences from the Soviet AK-47 and the German one is the absence of a cleaning rod, an "N" marked leaf sight instead of a "Š" marked one, the sling swivel on the reciever and fire selector marks reading "E" for single fire and "F" for full auto as opposed to "ŠŠ" and "Š".
