The MTs 558 is a Russian manually-operated bullpup marksman rifle designed and manufactured by the KBP Instrument Design Bureau in prototype form only.
History[]
The rifle was designed to be a civilian/hunting version of the VKS. The weapon does not appear to have entered series production as of yet.
Design[]
The MTs-558 is derived from the VKS bullpup sniper rifle, but is lighter and more compact than the weapon it is based on. A simple design allow the rifle to be easily maintained and repaired. The gun is primarily chambered for 12.7Ć55mm STs-130, but .338 Lapua Magnum and .300 Lapua Magnum are also sold. The gun comes pre-equipped with a muzzle brake, and the handguard has a 4-rail Picatinny Rails system for scopes, grips, or laser devices.[1]
