The Marek 3J was a prototype high-capacity British submachine gun designed by Jan Marek in 1942.

History[]

The Marek 3J was designed in 1942 by Czech immigrant Jan Marek; it was likely an evolutionary redesign of Marek's previous prototype, the 2J, which was trialed by the French Army. It may have been trialed at one point. Marek sent blueprints to the British Ordnance Board who ultimately expressed little interest in the design; it is unlikely the design went further. Few other records on the gun have survived.[1]

Design Details[]

The Marek 3J was a burst-firing submachine gun with an extremely high capacity magazine. The burst firing was noted as being adjustable; it could be set to 2-, 3-, 5-, 6-, 12-, 16-, 25- or 32-round settings.[1]
