  • I want to take pieces about 5.7x28mm on the FN Five-seveN article to the 5.7x28mm article, but I am a new editor and I am not sure where to put them in the article. I have already trimmed some parts of the FN Five-seveN article

    • From the data given, you could probably create a new "Performance" section for certain pieces of data or put them in "Description".

  • Is it acceptable to put pictures throughout an article?  I noticed that some have them, but when I edited the Enfield article, Wuzh seemed to want the pictures in the gallery only.

    • It's better for them to be in the gallery even though admittedly there is no hard rule dictating picture placement.

    • Okay, it's easier for me to post them throughout and I feel like it gives the article some sort of aesthetic substance so it doesn't just look like a mountain of words.  But if it's better in the gallery than I'll do it, I'm just not sure how to make one and don't wanna come to you for everything.  But I mean, if you know what resource to look at, feel free of course to point that out lol

  • Howdy, I noticed the edit on the Mosin about the stocks (Which was there when I did some minor cleaning up, but I wasn't sure about why or if I should have removed it) and I noticed the article still mentions things and has links to the aftermarket parts.  To my recollection, the rules for Fandom say we cannot advertise firearm related products like that, so I was wondering if it would be appropriate for me to remove the links and replace them with info about what kind of modifications are common?  Thanks.

I'm honestly not sure if stocks are allowed as articles here. And it's likely better to replace it with the information you've mentioned.

    • I'd never seen that kind of thing on any other article.  I know I added an Aftermarket Mods section to the Type 56 Carbine (Or rather, added the info and someone made it its own section), but I don't believe I named the parts.  I'll go ahead and remove the specific references and just describe what can be done.

  • Where did you find information about the "noiseless" machine gun powered by a 7hp engine?

  • He's been creating fanon/nonsense pages on the CoD Wiki as well (some of which I cleaned up yesterday), that's not a one-off disruption. So yeah, if he does it again here, it would only make sense to ban him.

On another note, would you mind giving me admin rights? I assume the reason why I didn't receive them alongside the others is because my activity kind of stagnated during that time, but now I've been back for a while, and the rights would come in handy to me for dealing with troublesome users and other important tasks, especially during the times when some other sysops aren't active.

More like during a slow-motion breaching sequence while taking down four commies in a matter of 0.3 real-time seconds.

  • So I'm looking at your tags, and I'm noticing you don't have the generic "admin", "bureaucrat" tags. And I was wondering how you were able to do that and if you could show me? I'm assuming that it was through the CSS panel in the admin dashboard, but correct me if I'm wrong.

  • You might have noticed I've been uploading every image twice. This is because I've been having a strange issue (and keep forgetting) wherein when I upload an image which doesn't have a file extension as part of its filename, clicking to view the image at full size downloads it as an "octet stream" file, which is basically a broswer's "I don't know" file type. Is this happening throughout Wikia, or just to me? Using Chrome with adblock plus, if that makes any difference.

  • At present infobox: autocannon has a bugged field: the fields for maximum effective range and maximum firing range both use a value called "range," which means that only maximum firing range appears on the template, but if anything is put in that field it will appear twice.

If I might make a recommendation, that template could also use an "AA ceiling" field since a lot of AA autocannons have an effective height limit that can be sourced.

Also, could we add "minimum range" and "maximum altitude" to the standard firearm infobox template? I know it mainly applies to missiles (especially the second), but there's a few other systems like grenade launchers that use a minimum arming range for HE rounds.

  • I know a page for every gun law would get very silly very quickly, but would it be appropriate to have a page on the National Firearms Act? It's kind of what defines gun classification in the US (badly) after all.

It might be appropriate... considering the amount of political debate that goes on here. (and yes, too many will get silly quickly)

    • To clarify, though, we don't base our classifications on American law, so just because something is classed as a "pistol" or "semi-automatic" under US legal definition, that doesn't mean we'll always class things based on that.

      Seconded.

    • Oh yeah, under US law a pistol can't be a smoothbore and a shotgun has to have a stock or it isn't a shotgun, and only the serial number bearing part of a gun is actually a gun but a bent piece of metal can be a machine gun. It's all very silly.
