The OTs-22 Buk (Cyrillic: ОЦ-22 Бук, "Beech") is a Russian submachine gun.

History[]

The OTs-22 was developed by Vladimir Zlobin in the mid to late 1990s as a light and compact weapon that could be used to defeat targets up to 100 meters away. The weapon is intended for use as a backup weapon by the infantry and similar units, such as armored crews; the weapon was apparently used in small numbers by the Russian Ground Forces and the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs.

Design Details[]

The OTs-22 is a blowback-operated submachine gun with ergonomics similar to the earlier PP-93. The weapon is select-fire and is constructed of stamped parts to help reduce the cost of production. The placement of the pistol grip is apparently as such to help reduce the weight of the weapon. The charging handle is located on the right hand side of the weapon and folds upwards for a sleeker profile. It is apparently also possible to add a laser designator to the weapon.

Ammunition[]

The OTs-22 fires the 9×19mm 7N21 round, a high-pressure variant of the standard 9×19mm Parabellum round.
