A paramilitary firearm is a firearm not used by the armed forces but retains military capabilities. The term may refer to semi automatic only variants of military firearms sold to civilians/law enforcement agencies/government paramilitary organisations or privately-owned military firearms (semi- or full-auto) chambered in civilian rounds.
