The Pindad PS-01(Full Name: PS-01 Serbu, literally translated "Attack")[1] is a prototype PDW pistol that was designed by Pindad.

History

The PS-01 was initially designed by small gunsmiths of Indonesia in 2007, and was redesigned by engineers of Pindad in the September of that same year. It was first shown in 2008 at Indo-Defence Expo & Forum, the gun was field-tested, despite being appreciated by the Armed forces, there wasn't interest in it, so the project has been canceled.[1][2]

Design Details

The PS-01 is a blowback-operated semi-automatic pistol, the shutter, and rear sight are a part of the frame, it features a muzzle brake giving it a more extravagant designed similar to the AUTO-9, its function is to protect the leading part of the barrel, when. The pistol is heavily inspired by the Beretta 92, this can be seen on the locking system that is almost in the same place as in the 92. The gun doesn't present automatic safety tags, however, on the left part, there is a slide stop lever.[1]

The gun features a 7.4" barrel that makes the gun overall length 10.8 inches, and is threaded so it can accept specialized silencers, for the subsonic version of the 5.56×21mm. And increased its effective range to 30-35 meters, but Pindad reports an absolute maximum effective range of 100 meters. A Picatinny rail is featured under the dust cover and barrel for adding lights or lasers. In addition to the silencer, an extended magazine is also available that can be used as a grip.[1][2]

The iron sights are based on the Blade U/V sights and have been raised, making it have a trapezoidal form.[1]

Ammunition

The gun used the special 5.56×21mm PINDAD that is a scaled-down version of the standard 5.56×45mm NATO with similar fired power to the .40 S&W. It was sold in both anti-personnel and subsonic versions.[2][3]
