The XM235 is a prototype light machine gun developed by Rodman Laboratories for the SAW trials in 1975-1976.

The XM235 is a gas-operated light machine gun made in a bullpup configuration.

Ammunition[]

The XM235 uses the experimental 6×45mm SAW cartridge. It had a 105 grain (6.8 grams) projectile and had a muzzle velocity of 2,520 ft/s (768 m/s).

Variants[]

  • XM238 - When the XM235 was selected for the SAW trials, Maremont Corporation and Ford Aerospace and Communication bid on the rights to develop an improved model chambered in 5.56mm NATO, designated the XM238.
