The SVCh (Снайперская винтовка Чукавина, which means "Chukavin Sniper Rifle") is a designated marksman rifle developed by Kalashnikov Concern. It was unveiled in 2016 under the name SVK.

Design details[]

The rifle is the prototype of a new precision weapon system designed by Kalashnikov Concern

The rifle was developed for Russian Special Forces intended for engagement of targets up to ranges of 1000 meters and greater. With proper ammunition, the rifle is capable of 1 MOA or better accuracy. It is chambered for three of the most common military cartridges, the 7.62×51mm NATO, 7.62×54mmR, and .338 Lapua Magnum

The SVCh rifle has an inverted U-shaped receiver, made from steel and a solid top that offers a stable platform for various optics, with an integrated picatinny rail. The trigger and magazine housing unit are both from lightweight alloys.

Variants[]

A more recent development of the SVCh rifle developed for the civilian market was revealed under the name "MR1". It is chambered for 7.62×51mm NATO and 7.62×54mmR, and the barrel length comes in either 410mm or 530mm.
