The Serbu BFG-50 is a single shot, breech-loaded, .50 caliber rifle developed specifically for civilian use.
History
The BFG-50 was Mark Serbu's first rifle design, coming into production in late 1999. It is on the civilian market for a price of $2,000-$3,000 USD, but is not intended to be used by any armed forces in the world.
Design Details
The BFG-50 is constructed using most modern manufacturing processes and is made from the highest quality MIL-spec steel alloy.
Ammunition
The rifle uses the .50 BMG cartridge. It is also chambered in .510 DTC EUROP for the State of California.
Variants
A magazine-fed, semi-automatic variant, the BFG-50A, has also been made into production.
Trivia
- In 2013, Serbu refused to sell their BFG-50A semi-automatic rifles to the New York City Police Department after the passage of the NY SAFE Act, which classified their weapon as an assault rifle.
