Springfield Armory, Inc. is a firearms manufacturer based in Geneseo, Illinois.

History[]

In 1974, Robert Reese used the name Springfield Armory to manufacture semi-automatic versions of the M14 rifle.

This company, now owned and run by Reese's sons, manufactures a wide array of firearms under the Springfield Armory name. Though it is not located near the former armory site and has no connection with the original National Arsenal. Springfield Inc.'s motto is "The Oldest Name In American Firearms" while technically true, is misleading since the company has no connection whatsoever with the original Springfield Armory in Springfield Massachusetts.

Products[]

The company imports their Croatian-made XD pistol series, and manufactures numerous M1911 clones, M1 Garands, and the M14-based M1A Rifle series.

Rob Leatham, is the captain of Team Springfield, a practical shooting team since its inception in 1985.

Springfield Armory currently is also the base for a well known custom shop. There, full-custom 1911-A1s and semi-custom XD pistols are made and worked on. Springfield's custom shop is most famous for their 1911 series. Including the Springfield Armory Custom TRP (Tactical Response Pistol) Professional Model, or TRP Pro for short.

This full-custom 1911 was the only sidearm to pass the trials set forth by the FBI when looking for a new gun for their Hostage Rescue Teams and FBI SWAT teams. This 1911 also enjoys popularity in the commercial firearms market as well, where it is known by many enthusiasts as one of the best 1911 clones on the market.
