The TKB-09 (ТКБ-09 in Cyrillic) is a 5.45x39mm carbine. It uses a bolt hooked to a steel cable attached to a spring in a tube above the barrel. The use of a steel cable in the TKB-09 firearm action predated the AN-94 Abakan.
