Tulsky Oruzheiny Zavod, PJSC (Cyrillic: Тульский Оружейный Завод, lit. "Tula Arms Factory"), commonly known as TOZ or the Tula Arms Plant, is a Russian arms company based in Tula.
History[]
The company was founded in 1712 under the decree of Peter the Great.[1] The company was originally set up to produce arms for the Imperial Russian Army.
The company would mainly produce light infantry weapons, flintlock pistols and swords in its early years. The company would then move to the production of more advanced arms in later years, such as the Mosin-Nagant.[2]
The company would be acquired by Rostec around 2012 and is now regarded as a leading defense company in Russia.[2]
