The VSSK Vykhlop (Russian: Винтовка Снайперская Специальная Крупнокалиберная; Vintovka Snayperskaya Spetsial'naya Krupnokalibernaya, lit. "Special high-caliber sniper rifle", Vykhlop is Russian for "exhaust"), GRAU index 6S8 and colloquially known as the VKS, is a Russian straight-pull bolt-action sniper rifle designed by Vladimir Zlobin and produced since 2002 by TsKIB SOO.

History[]

The weapon was first designed in 2002 as a sniper rifle made for silent firing and penetration power much greater than that of the VSS Vintorez. It is currently being used by the FSB and other Russian special forces.

Design Details[]

The VKS is a straight-pull bolt-action sniper rifle with an integrated suppressor. It has an accuracy claim of one minute of arc at a range of 100 meters (328.1 feet) with precision bullets.

It uses the subsonic 12.7x55mm STs-130 specially design for this rifle. This is also because of its integral suppressor.

The rifle has iron sights as well as picatinny rails for optics or laser devices (in newer versions).
