The XM191 was tested during the Vietnam War as a weapon to replace the old M2 flamethrower. It was ultimately not put into service, but the weapon evolved into the M202 FLASH.
Design Details
The weapon's design is largely the same as the M202 that it evolved into.
Ammunition
The weapon was primarily used to fire napalm rockets, but could also fire a HEAT round derived from the M72 LAW's rockets (XM78). It was also tested with a riot control CS gas rocket (XM96), though this never entered production.
